Mother Katharine Drexel, Foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, was the second canonized saint to be born in the United States.  Her courage and initiative in addressing social inequality issues and promoting quality education for all, years before they aroused public interest in the United States, are key parts of her legacy.  We will explore several life lessons that we can all learn from this beacon of selfless service.  Time will be allocated for group discussions and personal reflection.

       Susan will share personal experiences with Mother Teresa and her Missionaries of Charity helping the Poorest of the Poor in Calcutta, India.  There will be time for quiet reflection, questions and answers, prayer time together, and an opportunity for book signing.

       In this retreat come and discover who you and God are together.  The Holy Spirit invites you to seek God through various scripture stories/passages by using Lectio Divina and Imaginative Prayer.  We will utilize these aids to prayer for both private and group prayer.  There will be times for silence and times for discussion.

Jesus and the Gospel of Luke: Today Salvation Has Come
with Fr. Daniel O’Connell

       We all want to be saved.  Jesus enters into the world to be its Savior, the one who fulfills God’s promise of salvation.  Luke presents Jesus as the one through whom God offers this renewal.  Jesus begins his ministry proclaiming the salvation promised by the prophets, but proclaims it not as coming but as come.  In Him and through His word renewal happens.  Through the development of our spirituality and the sharing of our time in service, we are constantly saved and share that salvation with others.  This time of retreat will help us see His love and salvation at work in our lives.

Set Ablaze by the Spark of Faith

     “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”  (Lk. 18:8)  Will he find us desiring God?  Desiring God knows no bounds.  Knowing what sets this desire in motion is key.  With masters of the spiritual life, this retreat will focus on the “spark of faith” that ignites our path to intimacy with God, helps assess the quality of our faith, commits us to its development and the essential role of prayer in our life of faith.  The vitality of our Association depends above all on a living faith, on being alive with Christ in God!

Let Go – A Men’s Retreat on Spiritual Freedom in the Ignatian Tradition

Gentlemen, does it sometimes feel like all the things in your life actually own you, rather than the other way around? If so, this might be the perfect weekend for you. Deacon Fran Burke, our new Retreat Center Director, will lead his first retreat here on the Ignatian idea of Spiritual Freedom through detachment. He will use scripture, the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, art, the beauty of winter on the Seacoast of Maine, and personal experience to bring this topic to life. If you are thinking you are too busy to come, St. Ignatius would likely tell you that this is probably a sign that you should. See you in February!

       We all make decisions, big ones and little ones.  How do we know if we’ve made the right one?  On the opening evening, this silent retreat will begin with group reflection on Holy Decision Making.  This will be followed by small group meetings with individual directors.  The remainder of the weekend will include individual daily meetings with a director.  Daily Liturgy will be at the heart of our days together.

       This quiet and reflective weekend is an opportunity for us to experience different ways to open our contemplative hearts so that we can encounter God’s loving presence in all things.  Join us as we awaken our contemplative spirits through Lectio Divina, Centering Prayer, quiet reflection, and song.

       Join the Holy Knitters Prayer-Shawl Ministry as we joyfully share in the care of God’s people by using the gifts of our hands to knit or crochet sacred prayer shawls.  Our prayers and blessings are woven into the shawls as our hands work to fashion them. Shawls are then given to people for comfort, healing or in celebration.

*Basic knitting or crocheting skills are a prerequisite for this retreat.

       The apostolic exhortation Gaudete et Exultate  (Rejoice and Be Glad) given to the Church by Pope Francis on the 19th of March, 2018 addresses the call to holiness God makes to all of the baptized.  This retreat will explore what the call to holiness means, how we come to hear it, and how we strive to achieve it in our day-to-day living.
